The best intentions won’t get you far unless you pair them with action. Discover how to own your actions with our latest article.

Own your action.

It is easy to slip into a frame of mind where we blame everyone and everything else for what happens to us…

“I was late because I was following a slow driver”

“I didn’t go running because it was raining”

“I ate rubbish food because it is all they offered”

But at the end of the day, only you control your actions and only you miss out when you don’t do what you promised yourself you would. Is it not within your control to leave earlier, embrace running in the rain or bring yourself a healthy snack?

Of course, we can’t always predict what the world will throw at us. We can only control what we can control and there is little point in spending time worrying about anything else.

One thing you can control is your actions and owning them is the only proactive way to ensure that you propel yourself towards your desired goals, making the more from your time. It is important to remember that your time is limited so you need to be smart about how you spend it.

The love you receive, the happiness you feel and the greatness you achieve are all direct results of the actions you take.

Own your action by taking action.

Taking action is easier said than done. It takes energy and motivation to get up and do the things we said we were going to do.

It is all about owning it.

Own your time and how you spend it. Own the actions you take and have confidence that what you are doing is contributing to a better version of yourself. Only when you truly believe in what you are doing does it become easy to get up every day and do it.

It takes grit, it takes determination, but it is worth it.

For example, you won’t ever achieve that amazing feeling of crossing the finish line on event day if you don’t take action. You need to:

  • Book yourself onto the event
  • Train hard
  • Eat right
  • Get in the right mental space
  • Turn up and give it your all

Own your action – action plan.

Here are some steps to help you take action:

  1. Believe in yourself – you can do whatever you set your mind to, so don’t ever let a lack of confidence stop you from taking action
  2. Start small – start by taking one small step and building up from there
  3. Understand your why – when you understand what it is you are trying to achieve it is much easier to motivate yourself to take action
  4. Team up – if you can find others who are working towards the same goal it can be a great motivator to team up and motivate each other to take action
