How owning your health can help you create a better, longer life.

Own your health for a better life

How important is health to you?

Many of us take our health for granted, especially those of us who are lucky enough to be able to maintain good levels of health all our lives. So, let me ask you this instead:

What if you could do something that means you can help your loved ones, stay active, be happy and remain mobile for longer?

Taking care of your health drastically increases your chances of living a long and happy life. It lets us have more fun, love more and achieve more goals. But grabbing your running shoes and hitting the pavement isn’t just about the long term benefits. Better health means more energy, better mental stability and feeling great right now.

Owning your health also helps you feel a great sense of achievement. Every time you complete an event, beat a personal best or just spend some time being active is a move towards better health.

Own your health by getting started.

It doesn’t matter if you rarely walk further than your kitchen or you are a competitive runner finding new and innovative ways to beat the competition – what matters is that you are proactive in getting out there and doing what it takes to move towards a healthier version of yourself.

Own your next health goal like your life depends on it. Note it down, get out there and smash it. You have the grit and determination it takes to achieve great things, all you need to do is take the first step.

That first step could be a gentle walk or an hour of hard graft in the gym. It doesn’t matter if you are taking it slow or going at it fast. All that matters is that you get started and you keep going. Remember that your ambition is the only limit to your potential.

Own your health – 3 ways to create a health-focused mindset.

Telling you to own your health is all good and well, but how do you actually do it? Here are 3 steps to get you started:

  1. Book the thing – Remember that thing you’ve been planning? The one you’ve been talking about forever? Whether it’s a run, a hike or a swim, book it…now. Having something set in the diary is a great motivator to keep you focused on your health.
  2. Positive talk – Life can get hectic, which can make making positive decisions that impact your health difficult. Maintain a positive mindset and remind yourself that the choices you make now will benefit you in the future.
  3. Make it easy – The easier it is to do something, the more likely you are to do it. Find ways to make healthy habits easy to follow – such as scheduling a short run, which you can take longer if you feel good or making sure your running kit is ready and waiting for you when you get home so you can go straight out
